Lost Lullaby

Project type

Abandoned Homes

Date

March 2025

Location

South Carolina

While exploring a sleepy village, a friend and I drove past this home and couldn't help but notice it's potential abandonment. After exploring a few spots, we drove back by and parked out front.. it's funny this home is on a road that many drive down each day but I'm willing to bet almost just as many don't even notice it.. I'm glad we did. Upon entering, the first room I noticed was likely one for a child.. instantly coining this house "lost lullaby". Majority of the home was empty, although the site of a cat scratching post in what seemed to be the living room made me feel an instant connection to whomever lived here before.. if you're a cat lover, you know what I mean. The remainder of the home was interesting in character, quaint and certainly abandoned but it was the most life-filled bando I have been inside, so far anyways. In any case, there was a small set of stairs leading up to what was likely an attic.. which was now painted pink with painters tape still dressing the window frames.. a random tv on the floor was a indication that potentially someone needed some entertainment while getting the paint on the walls.. it was a house with just enough to stir the imagination.. walking away.. I left with many versions of my own story.. but I still think "lost lullaby" is the best way to summarize this one.
