CCI Prison Power House

The prison this house was associated with opened in 1867 and served as South Carolina's primary prison for nearly 130 years - it housed roughly 80,000 inmates during that time. With nearly all of the prisons original, historic structures demolished - this is the only glimpse we have in to it's past. Rumored to have also been what was referred to as the "electric chair building" - it is believed the lower level of this building is home to the prisons execution room.
