Roadside Diner

Project type

Abandoned Hospitality

Date

June 2025

Location

South Carolina

After exploring the last 6 months, 2 things remained on my bucket list: a diner and a funeral home.

Being in the south, you would think with as many abandoned schools, churches, funeral homes and houses that are around - there be a abundance of abandoned diners. Not so much the case.

So finding one was a challenge, all on its own. However, where there are good explorer friends - there are good spots to explore. This was the case when a good friend of mine took me to this gorgeous old diner.

On a day with already little luck getting in to places, I was saddened when arriving at the diner and finding no way in.. initially. However, the universe was on my side and so.. I found a way in.

This diner is easily one of my favorite places. The condition it's in to this day is astonishing, especially given that it's been abandoned for quite some time. I enjoyed every second I spent here. Teleporting me back to a different time, the colors, the old details, everything about it is perfect.

It's a place where the energy still lingers, the past echoes through rows of empty seats, the traffic outside going by isa reminder of just how many eyes set their sights on this place while it was up and running.

Happy to say that I can cross one of the two things left on my bucket list, even happier that it was this exact place as my first diner ever explored.
